Interview Tips

Nervous about your first interview? That's completely normal — every single person you'll ever meet felt the same way before their first one. Here's everything you need to walk in prepared and walk out proud, broken into simple sections.

A bit of prep goes a long way — and it'll calm your nerves too. Here's what to sort out before the big day:

Research the company. Spend 10 minutes on their website. Know what they do, who their customers are, and one thing you find interesting about them. You don't need to memorise their whole history — just enough to show you actually care.

Prepare a few questions to ask them. Interviews go both ways. Try: “What does success look like in this role after 3 months?” or “What do you enjoy most about working here?” Asking questions shows you're genuinely interested, not just desperate for any job.

Pack what you need. Bring 2 printed copies of your CV, your ID, and any certificates mentioned in the job ad (matric certificate, learnership completion, etc). Put them in a clean folder or envelope — it makes a good impression before you even speak.

Dress neat, not expensive. You don't need a designer suit. Clean, ironed, and simple beats flashy every time. If unsure, smart casual (collared shirt, neat pants/skirt, closed shoes) is almost always safe.
